The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) is accepting applications for the 14-week position (June 1st – September 4th, 2026) of Rock Glen Conservation Area Assistant at Rock Glen Conservation Area (RGCA), located at 8680 Rock Glen Road, Arkona, Ontario. The RGCA team is looking for an energetic, customer-service oriented individual. There is potential for this position to be extended until October 16th, 2026.

RGCA is a day-use conservation area, featuring recreational walking trails through Carolinian Forest, with views of the scenic Rock Glen Falls waterfall. The Conservation Area Assistant will get to enjoy their season at this scenic conservation area.
The successful candidate will work an average of 35 hours per week. The Conservation Area Assistant will be required to work weekends, as well as some evenings.
The ABCA is one of Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities with the mandate to ensure the conservation, restoration and responsible management of Ontario’s water, land and natural habitats through programs that balance human health, environmental and economic needs.
Duties may include:
- Exceptional customer service at the gatehouse and throughout the park, including:
- Taking payment (cash, debit, or credit card) and making change
- Answering questions and providing information about Rock Glen CA
- Ensuring visitors are educated about the rules
- Conservation area maintenance, including:
- Clean buildings and ensuring adequate supplies are available in washrooms
- Maintain grounds, facilities, picnic areas, trails and common areas
- Collect garbage and recycling
Qualifications:
- Team player with good organization and communication skills
- Experience providing excellent customer service, handling payments and maintaining records
- Knowledge and skills to safely operate field equipment used for conservation areas maintenance
- First Aid and CPR Certification is an asset
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada, possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
Remuneration: $22.84 to $28.55 depending on qualifications and experience.
Hours: 35 hours per week; with flexibility.
